Hi. I want to drive a 20-50A 12V motor for less than 1 hour.
Does anyone know how many charge cycles I'd get out of a cheap car battery doing this to it? I realise it won't be good in the long term, but I'll be happy it if lasts a couple of months with 1 cycle per day.
This is only a temporary project for fun, so I don't want to pay any more than I have to just to make it last.

Hmmmm perhaps check the battery datasheets? Im not sure, but Im willing to bet its less than 100 deep cycles.

so car batteries are not designed for completely discharging.
you want a deep cycle battery. these are commonly used for the passenger electrics on boats and RVs. you can completely discharge this kind of battery with little damage.
dunk.

As I said, I don't want to do that.
I've since found 3 old batteries so I'll test them to destruction.
