Hi guys, i am new here. I am only 14 but i am pretty smart. I Just read a page about robotic and a $50 robot tutorial and i was cOnFuSeD. My school has no robotics club and i am probaly the only one who likes robotics in my school. My cousin got me off my butt and got me into robotics. i am very interested in computers and robotics because i like to get confused and learn about the things i get confused about :D. I want to build robots just for fun but also to try to change the world.

Very similar to me. :P
I'm 14, I'm smart, I've made the $50 dollar robot which would work if I fixed it. However, I did not change the world yet, but I will. Muwhahahha!
I built this robot for fun too and it was a great experience. Learning+fun+burnt hands+maybe a hole in your hand or two+your wallet will hurt but it won't need surgery. LOL I'm kidding, but I did kinda burn my hand with the soldering iron.
Good luck, and we're always here to help you (I will if I can because I'm still relatively new to robotics. But the part I like is the electronics, not the programming which I don't get yet.

cool, i forgot to tell you, i am the 1337th member :D :D :D

Hi,
I'm 18 and really envious about you getting into robotics this early in your lives. Naa, just kidding. I'm only very happy that you did, because it will improve your chances of helping thew world! :D
Well, good luck with your robots you little elite! :D

lol, glad we could help

kokeecola - If you are just getting started, but want something more than just a toy, I might suggest Parallax's BOEbot... they have excellent materials that will walk you through step by step and get you the basics you need to progress to more sophisticated projects... http://www.parallax.com/ProductInfo/Robotics/BoeBotRobotInformation/tabid/411/Default.aspx

Awesome man!
I was programming at your age.. I thought I was the awesomest :)
Just keep in mind:
However smart you think you are, you're not. None of us are.. and accepting that is the first step into learning.

mmk, i saw those links. ty for them. i have 2 old computers and a cd player that i can scavenge from ;D

Their is a program that is going around the states as well as a number of countries called FIRST robotics... (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) google the first robotics competition and their should be some posts on it on how to get your school involved in it. :)

hi-
I'm only 11 (though I do know how to program in C++) but I was in the same situation as you.
I know it's a lot of money, but I would get the boe-bot.
It is a VERY good beginners robot, is easy to program, and you can do lots of cool stuff with it.
or you can go on ebay and just get the board for $50
I made a member page on a wall avoiding robot with that board:

hope we at SoR can help you.
