Title: put an r/c car under my computers control
Post by: cooldog on December 11, 2007, 05:05:08 PM
i read this article
http://www.instructables.com/id/Put-your-R%2fC-car-under-computer-control/

and i was wondering f this would work

i have a transmitter and old key board. i was wondering i have a remote controlled truck that uses push buttons instead of joysticks. if i remove the buttons and connect wires where they were. then connect the wires to the arrow keys ( forward button - up joy stick ) without any resistors or other things then close it all up and turn it all on will the keyboard blowup and fry my transmute of will it work ( push up arrow the car moves forward )  also will my keyboard still function normally.

Note: this is assuming all wires are connected correctly

Inside a keyboard there are very small contact switches, they'll never be able to pass much current without frying.
Let's hope your transmitter doesn't want too much current to flow through the switches.

You can't solder inside a keyboard, there are simply no contacts, it's all printed on foil... maybe inside the top right part of your keyboard though...
