Title: Modifying standard servos to digital
Post by: SeagullOne on January 17, 2008, 05:12:12 PM
Isn't their a way to modify standard servos to allow them to report their position to the robot? I've heard, or read somewhere that they can be and I'd like to try it myself. I'm guessing its cheaper, right? How easy is it to do it? Thanks

Report their position??

Just send them a pulse and they will go to that place

OR

connect wires to the pot inside the servo ( without cutting off the wires that are there from before) Then just read the resistance of the pot using an MCU or make it into an A2D circuit and then you can read position ( well really resistance)

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I guess they work fine for my project.  ;D
