detect the current?

what do you mean

measure it , or what

to detect current just have an LED that will turn on when it has enough current to light up

You could get an ammeter circuit board (or make one. I saw one on Hacked Gadgets), but I like airman's idea. just have a lead with a LED going to a grounding wire.
