Title: Nearly there!
Post by: javafiend on February 16, 2008, 07:31:11 AM
I've completed my $50 robot base and am just waiting to get the parts for the photoresistors and Sharp IR.  I'm a bit disappointed though.  I've been working on this since December and now that this phase is completed I feel kind of lost.  So I guess my question is, where do I go from here?  I'm not the most creative person, but I can put stuff together like nobody's business.

If I were you I would just challenge myself to just try something harder, that would still be somewhat practical and challenging, maybe a line following robot, or maybe robotic arm, not really sure where I'm going with this as I'm still a newbie to  ;D

I've been thinking about making an arm.  I'd really like to get the most out of my $50'r that I can.  Is the extent that I can take this just adding various sensors?  What have other folks done, or thought about doing, with theirs?

About 3/4 of all the robots I have made (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robots.shtml) could have been fully controlled by the $50 Robot controller. It is extremely flexible for whatever you want to do.

I'm currently using my $50 controller for this robot:

You would probably want to start with the sharp ir upgrade. Then modify it with an up/down moving servo so you get it to move up/down/left/right then try and build in some kind of mapping for a start
