Title: USB as charger?
Post by: javafiend on February 19, 2008, 06:44:07 PM
Stop me before I do something disasterous please.  I have an excess USB cable that was cut off of a broken keyboard and am considering using it as a charger for my battery pack.  Will this work or should I avoid it at all costs?

It's just a 6V pack of rechargable Energizer NiMH AA's.

the usb port supplies 5v up to 500ma. you could use it as a PSU but be very careful. I'm actually thinking of running 2 5v wires from my computers PSU

nope don't use USB to charge those , go with a dedicated charger  , check eBay they have some good deals

I have a wall charger for them that I should use.  I was just feeling lazy about taking them out of the case and running two rounds of batteries through the charger  :-\
