Title: Where to get cheap timing belt
Post by: scrubs on March 01, 2008, 01:13:16 PM
I started designing a robot arm, and realized that servos wouldn't be strong enough for what I want it do.  I decided to go with a stepper motor/ timing belt combo to rotate the base and shoulder joints of the arm.  The problem is that I can't find anywhere that has cheap timing belts ($10 and under).  Another restriction is that the belt must have a diameter of about 15 cm or so.   Thanks in advance for the help.

I assume you checked all the local Auto Parts stores?

Stock Drive Products has a great selection... prices seem "reasonable"... http://sdp-si.com/index.asp

There is always e-bay... http://search.ebay.com/timing-belt_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQdfspZ1QQfromZR40QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ34QQsbrsrtZd

No I didn't even think of checking the auto stores.  I will see what they have in stock.
