Title: solder tabs
Post by: stopgo on March 09, 2008, 11:52:25 AM
I just got a set of batteries with solder tabs, and now I'm wondering exactly how to solder them together.  I've read that I can damage the battery by applying heat to it, but if I don't solder the batteries directly to each other, what do I do?  I also don't have any means of doing 'spot-welding.'

you can solder the tabs. just be sparse with heat.

or just don't hold the iron on too long.

OK, I'll try that.  Thanks!

Update: Looks good to me... no way to tell if I did 'long-term' damage with too much heat, but I tried to be as sparse as possible.  Anyway, working for the time being.

Just for future note:
You want the soldering iron as hot as possible
Kept on as short as possible
And you should clean off the battery leads with sandpaper first
And use soldering flux
