Title: The best materials to quickly build robots
Post by: fritsl on March 12, 2008, 10:45:31 AM
IMHO it should be easy and fast to make robots!

Of course if you have access to CAD and CNC and 3D print etc, you should use this.. But most of do not. And so it is more fun to just build than to sweat over 3D drawings and spend time and energy on something that is not going to be a robot anyway..

Also I think you learn so much more by building hundreds of fast robots - compared to just dreaming of building one..

Here is a video I made to show how you can just go along with the cheapest of materials:

Another example is this, just look at the pictures. If you find some old antennas, a hot glue pistol, some sticks, some double sided tape and a cutter it is really that simple, you do not need anything but just deciding where what should be, and just putting it there..

Thanks ;)

I have just made a new robot - rather complicated, but the basic construction only took about 2-3 hours.

Same simple materials, I really start to feel for fast made robots! More creative to build that way, IMHO, more "alive" and "artistic" than CAD/lasercut etc..
