Title: Question about servomotors for 50 $ robot
Post by: Challenger on March 13, 2008, 03:46:42 AM
Hello everyone !

I'm planning to build the 50 $ robot and i need a little bit of help here.I have 2 servomotors:AS - 170
Picture:http://sierra.ro/Servomecanism-micro-AS-170-p2049p.html (http://sierra.ro/Servomecanism-micro-AS-170-p2049p.html)

Specifications:

Dimensions:28 x 13 x 30 mm
Weight: 17 grams
Voltage:4 - 6 V
2.2 kg – cm
Speed:0.12 sec / 60 grades

Is it good enough to move the robot ?

I will modify the servo for continuous rotation.

Thanks  ;)

Three wires and accept PWM signal.  Those servos won't be winning any speed contests, but they will do.  Just watch the voltage going to them as they are rated on the low end for most servos.  Without looking I don't know what kind of juice the $50 bot uses, but you might need to adapt the motor battery for those servos.
