Im looking at possibly building a agv (autonomous ground vehical) for testing settups involving telepresence and payload carrying, as well as... airsoft 8)
the plan is for a 1.2ghz or 2.4ghz video camera reporting to a 2.5inch lcd screen on my person. what is the best drivetrain option? Is this too big a project to do with servos for continuous rotation? what servos should I use? what wheels? or is there a cheap, mid-scale track solution that can scale outdoor terrain (picture paths in the woods, ocasional branches, rocks, leaves, hills, groundhog holes, ect.) advice for building material? I was thinking expanded pvc or HDPE, maby delrin. also, will a IR lamp provide illumination for a 2.4ghz camera at night?

HS-311 should be good but you may need stronger

I would say four wheels, anything more then that and without independent suspension it becomes LESS menuverable. What kind of range should I expect from a 2.4ghz camera?

depends how much you want to spend on the camera , ;)
Tell us what range you WANT and then wie'll advise a good cam
Be sure to post pics of it when you are done with it! ;D

no more then 70 for a camera and receiver, 100 for 2 cameras and 1 receiver, i just figured how to do a normal cam and a 3x magnification cam...more later

The choice of drivetrain depends significantly on your terrain, and the required speed, range, torque, and robot weight.
Hobby servos should only be used on small robots . . .

Size is looking to be no more then 18inches long, and shouldent weigh more then 1kg. My terrain as stated will be light offroad, with small obsticals like branches, stones, ect.
