Title: robot instructables contest closes june 29
Post by: cooldog on April 15, 2008, 04:15:43 AM
hey all you people that have instructable accounts there holding a robot contest

disscription
Robots are never going to take over the world if we don't get off the couch and make them ourselves!
That's why we've teamed up with the folks at RoboGames to bring you the Robot Contest!
Want to win a trip to RoboGames 2009? Tell us how you made your robot.
Good robot design is highly detailed, so we're asking you to document specific parts of your robot for this contest. Maybe you built the ultimate manipulator arm, designed a killer sensor array, reused some great trash, or just made a gorgeous housing - pick something you're proud of, and share how you made it.
Show us what you and your robots can do

deadline
june 29 2008

prizes
win a trip to go to RoboGames, flight and hotel room included!
Robonova Walking Android kit
lots of Robot-themed gear

I'm hoping one of the two tutorials I am working on are done before the deadline.  A free trip to RoboGames next year would be nice.  Everyone else will just have to hope for one of the humanoid robots  ;D

Please build a 3rd person probe! That would be so sweet, and you'll probably be in good placement with that project cause of the coolness rate.

3rd person probe meaning a flying robot with a camera that could be positionen in a constant distance according to yourself + a pair of vision goggles wirelessly connected to the camera.

I would be very happy with a humanoid as a price. Can't go to Robogames anyway. But I don't have time to build something. Too bad. Maybe next time.

Nice idea
I'll do some research into it ...and do some research into how much $$$ i have available for this project  ;)

I've decided to enter my ERP into it . . . I really like California :)

Whoever wins better take lots of pics/vids of the event to share! I definitely would . . .

If you are already entering the SoR contest, no harm in entering this too - double your chances of winning ;D

I will be waiting to see how far along I get on my VTOL before submitting the entry for this, and the SOR contest.  I would hate to sign up only to have to drop out because I still have parts on back order.  Either way, I will be going to robogames next year, my daughter wants to go for her HS graduation present (I think she sees it as a present for me for surviving her teen years).

I just submitted my ERP to the instructables contest:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Experimental-Robot-Platform/

[guilt trip]Please vote for me! If ever you'd like to thank me for aaaalllll the hard work and assistance I've given you, now is the chance![/guilt trip]
http://www.instructables.com/contest/robotcontest/
(just click the 'vote' button next to Experimental Robot Platform)

But seriously, if all the SoR members voted, SoR could easily own the contest :P

Hi:

I just got done putting up a tutorial on:
http://www.instructables.com/contest/robotcontest/?show=ENTRIES

It is a 4 1/2 ft. robot with an arm and hand that can lift a 2 lb object 4 ft in the air. It cost me about $60 to make.

Vote for me !

I guess I'll enter Chives if I have the time to document it

can't wait till exams are over

heres a little bit of what was added to chives since last time: robot arm ,3D stereoscopic vision , sonar ranger ,joystick ,red color follower , and more voice commands.

I promise all of this will be documented once final exams are over!

Why in the world are people entering kenex stuff. I may be mistaken but a Kenex gun is not a robot and kenex dosent support anything other than battery powered motors. Robots have to think right?
