Title: AVR STK serial port dongle programmer

i have just found out that the cable i was wanting to program the $50 robot cannot program the ATmega 8,i have been asked(buy the company i rang on the phone)if i the $50 robot chip can be changed to a PIC,also is there anywhere in australia that the AVR STK Serial Port Dongle Programmer
 can be purcahsed anywhere in Aus  ???

p.s.-the pins i have on my electronics is 10 pins

If you have parallel or serial port in your PC you can easily make programmer yourself. Ponyprog is powerful and free  http://www.lancos.com/prog.html (http://www.lancos.com/prog.html)

yes it can just make the soldering and the wiring correct

With that programmer you can program virtually all AVR MCUs (except ATtiny 11 and 12 as I remember which are useless for hobbyist ), no matter how much your robot costs   ;D

I found this on the internet. What are the chanses for it to work? It doesn`t look like the one in your link
