Is this a sensor?
It looks like a sensor
I now know to ask wether it's a sensor, due to finding Phototransistors in my VCR
So this is another thing i have found in a VCR
Can I use it?
If not, what is it?

It would help if you told people from what part of the VCR it came from. If it came from the tape path then I would guess it is an erase head. Not likely to be of use in a robot.

Hmmmm, i'v taken apart VCRs before and i think its the eraser too. I've never taken the eraser apart though; i'm guessing it might be an electromagnet ???

I think it's an eraser too...
For some reasons VCRs have IR sensors or something like photosensor... but that's not the case...
Logically there was a metal pin somewhere next to it... so it must be an eraser...
Not something very practical for robots... that's for sure...

oooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
thanks,
I noticed that there was two of them aswell...does that go along with the whole erasing idea?

Man... It seems I confuse this...
But it may as well be a head for reading the tape...
It been a very long time since I last opened a VCR to get parts...
And it MUST be an eraser... but why not a reading head...
How old was the VCR... the new ones have multiple heads to read the tapes starting from 2 to 4 , I don't know if more exist...
Anyways... must be an eraser... so don't bother much my reply...

Hey if you take apart a PS3 you can get a couple photosensors where the eject and power buttons are.
LOL :D

You can indeed take some regulator, caps, some motors and a brushless one... some LEDs... and a blue ray laser...
But all these for 500E.... ha... better go to a casino and bet all my money...
