Hey Bane,
I'm looking at doing a similar thing except with a super nintendo controller rather than ps3. This site has instructions on how to connect a ps controller to a computer and may be of some help to you http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/electronique_en.php (http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/electronique_en.php)

Hi
The logitech wireless rumblepad 2 are pretty easy to interface/hack.

Hey thanks for the ideas :). After doing some research on hacking one, it almost seems easier to connect the PS3 controller to my laptop and have it control a board that controls my robot :P. And not to overlook the $$$$ factor of it! :o. (blue tooth technology $ > my wallet :'() Maybe some day in the future ;D
