Does anybody know if I can install sensors into my Robby the Robot
-
Robby the robot?
Is that a kit?
-
well, thats a rather vague question. What type of sensors would you want to install on your Robbie?

I would like some movement sensors so I can interact with my robby the robbot and so that he can follow me around the house.
He's also good friends with my cat and I would like for him to be able to play with the cat.

sounds lovely...view ther topics for answers maybe? This one seems to be relatively dead
-
do you have any links?
Is it the rooby the robot with a circuit board on top and a small tank like chssis underneath? or is it just a model replica of the televised robbie the robot with motors in the feet?

is this the instruction manual?
-
no u blithering baffoon that's the god damn robot
-
be nice now...
You Bloody IDIOT ;D

Do yu have any links for the specific model that you have rather than a wiki entry of the robot used on the television. The reason why is because nobody can tell you if you can add sensors unless we know wether it already has an electronics system and also what that system is.
(if it doesnt have any electronics then you can add your own but its ging to be a challenge if you dont have any experience.)

Looking at it, I have to ask, how tall is it? I ask as I have never seen anything like it before. Providing that it is better than eighteen inches tall, there may be some options. I would also be curious to whether you are using a computer motherboard for this or are you using basic stamp? I ask as it is technical details like these that help to solve such problems.

Listen RobbieCP1000, be serious if you want to be part of this forum.

Yer, SixRingz is right
and also i don't think it possable, it's merely a toy
-
It's just a toy, you can't just glue a servo on it, solder some wires onto it and hope it'll work...
Do some research before you ask a question you blithering baffoon, and if you do ask a question put some effort into it.
Do you assume everybody knows that toy of yours?
-
well said, well said
-
im a bit late into this topic...
we need to know more info robbieCP1000 ! Specs, website links , details man!
also do not call anyone a "baffoon" or any otehr insult . People here are answering questions for free and do it for fun , so be nice and maybe you'll learn something .
also what is your experience with robotics?
-
You can install sensors into anything you want . . . a water bottle for example.
You just need other electronics to process that data, like a microcontroller . . .
Then actuators to use that data . . . like servos . . .
-
but i thought that toys like that had the little black dot microcontroller? And you can't add to them, right?
-
nope you can't use that microcontroller
those microcontrollers are one time programmable and were designed for that application ONLY.
