So just if anyone is interested, I got a 6 week internship at the Army Research Laboratory this summer, and basically I will be building very small robots that mimic insect movements and behaviors. So right now I'm still not sure how much I can tell you but I will check to see what is allowed out as public information and I will keep you all updated on what I am doing.

Veeeery cool!
Good job!
-
sweet ;D good luck
-
nice
what grade are you in?
-
I am going into my senior year of high school. OK so my project is not classified so I should be able to document it, however it is in a classified environment so I cannot take pictures or video >:( . Here is the overview: We are modifying the radio shack HEXBUG, to be fully autonomous and able to communicate with other HEXBUGS then do things like object detection and following, as well as grouping behaviours.(http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pRS1C-3692840w345.jpg)
- ARM7 microcontroller
-custom boards for everything
-VGA camera
-4 touch sensors
-OPAMP amplified microphone
-XBee communication between Bugs
-LiPoly 3.6V battery pack 400 mA
as we continue to develop it I will start to post more in depth and more source code.

pretty cool stuff
how'd you get into this internship anyhow? Applied for it or something?
-
Yeah I applied as a mechanical electrical engineer for a position at Motile Robotics Inc. that I found on careerbuilder.com.

We got blob tracking to work on the bugbot now and it will soon be controlling the PWM of the motors
-
So as am I leaving, bug bot will be hugely upgraded, we are putting an ARM9 on it capable of running Linux, and 32 MB of Ram, plus a camera and a 2MBps 2.4 GHz transceiver onto a 6 layer board about the size of 2 quarters end to end. Plus almost all the chips will be BGA mounted, it will have mechanical-biological legs and wings to be flying and crawling around by the end of the year. This is however the last update I can give before it goes top secret... sorry guys no pictures or video or documentation ("you never know when the enemy is watching")

sweet job dude.
definitely a keeper.
apply to cornell and you can come build robots with me.
