you just turn on a roborealm web server

and then to access it, type in the ip address of the computer hosting hte camera and the port numebr , usually 8080  e.g.   192.168.1.1:8080
btw the 192.168.1.1 is not a real ip address , thats a local ip address.  If you are on a wireless network you need to have port forwarding running, forwarding that port to the computer with the camera.

i believe he wants to let roborealm access an internet camera, not watch roborealm's camera over the internet.
i'm not sure if this is doable unless rr explicitly supports it.

you will need your host camera to sends its data via some kind of protocol. for example, video stream servers usually use mms. next, you must make roborealm understand this stream. if it is directly supported, that should be fine, enter the stream address and voila! roborealm watches the remote camera.
however, if it doesn't have support for that protocol, you must find a program that connects to that stream, identifies itself as a camera, and presents to the OS the stream data as camera info. This way, you can trick roborealm (and any other software that uses a camera) into believing the remote stream is actually a local camera.

oh I see what he means

hmmm yea , do what izua said . Trick it into thinking its a local camera . I'm pretty sure there are local camera emulators  that make .avi files look like a camera, and then you could have the internet camera constanstly stream an avi file or maybe just a regular picture file, and have roborealm process that continually.

i think airman had it right the first time

i am trying to find the web address that my camera is transmitting over the web on so i can go top my cottage and type in the address to watch my room

If you are on a wireless network you need to have port forwarding running, forwarding that port to the computer with the camera.

how do i put on port forwarding and how do i find my ip address

http://whatismyipaddress.com/

if its 192.168.x.x ( x s are numbers) then you need to set up port forwarding

go into your routers settings and set it to do port forwarding for that port that is needed and have it forward it to the ip address of the computer thats connected to the camera.

Do you know how to enable the web server ? and do you know what port its using? ( all of this is done through roborealm)

btw check out the chatroom

I can answer you there as long as you promise to post your solution in this thread , so other people can look it up later as a reference
