Red dots are positions of mouse optical sensors , under robot

So I though with good program you could calculate with those two sensors a rotation and movement.
It's cheap solution and there is no need for gyroscope and such for not so advanced robots.
So what do you think? Is my idea good or bad?

Horrible idea. Unless of course your robot operates on perfectly flat terrain and the robot tires are very rigid.
For example, lift your optical mouse up by a millimeter or two and move it around . . . notice how it stopped working?
Now if your robot encounters a 1mm bump in the ground, it'll stop working . . .
(you are like the ~5th to ask this on the forum, search around :P)
