Title: Starting my first project by myself.. and need feedback on plans...
Post by: jamort on October 27, 2008, 05:23:55 PM
I am planning to build my first robot that i have to do everything for and wanted to get opinions on my plans....
The robot will be differential drive driven by two servo motors. And on the robot I am planning to have a rotating platform that is rotated by another servo motor that has an ultrasonic sensor on top, and in the end when I'm finished with everything I plan for it to drive around and when it starts getting say 6" from an boject to turn, then the platform turn left and the right and which way has a further disatnce option it will drive that way, and have a rfepetitive process.

I would also like to know if anybody can think of a way to detect heat such as a person by sensor. i might be working on a project that needs to be able to dtect fire so it can put it out...
Thanks

Detect heat from a person?? That would be really hard.

Parallax has an IR remote temperature sensor on sale right now.

I was looking at trying it for following a heat source. I have not purchased it yet, so all I know is from the datasheets, but it looks like you need to use serial communication to work with it.

Yeah I was actually part way thinking that the army and what not is trying to develop robots to fight wars and maybe that could be a way

Please tell me you/someone already searched the forum for 'heat sensor' and PIR ;)

tons of links/code/examples of robots following people using heat . . .
