Title: Suggestion for my robot?

I want to build a robot but not too complex. Im a newbie in creating a robot that will be useful to human. can you give me some ideas?

try the $50 robot and build from there

Thanks for the reply. i read the step by step tutorial. but ihave a lot of question. what is the programmer used to program the microcontroller?

WinAVR is used in the $50 robot tutorial.  I have a Mac and used MacAVR ;D.  There's some better ones, but I'm not too sure on where to get it.
