Title: question about some parts
Post by: ross75 on November 10, 2008, 02:10:17 PM
Will this part work instead of a serial rs232 shifter? I'd rather have usb.

And how about this crystal for the atmega644?

No, I don't think so.

You should be able to use that instead of a rs232 level shifter. It is a serial to USB converter. It uses a generic USB driver to emulate a serial port on the computer. Just make sure that you can set the the micro and the converter with the same settings, hand shaking, stop bits, ect...

As for the crystal I would use something like this

and use 22pf capacitors.
