I'm going to be buying about $400 of stuff soon and need recommendations on what to get as far as electonics go..... trying to get as much as possible....
-
what are you planning to do with them? or you just want any parts?
I can advice you buying some resistors... because.. you know.. they go in all kind of different colours.. and you can solder them together and bend them to make like little humans or doggies and horses.. ;D
If you explain us what is the project you are going to buy parts for, maybe we would be able to give a better advice =)

My advice would only buy what you need for a particular project (Make out a parts list and then find where you can get them the cheapest). There is no way to buy everything, and be prepared for every project. You'll just end up buying stuff you'll never use and run out of money for the things you really need. If you really want some general stuff, buy resistors/capacitors in common values, buy a nice soldering iron, a bread board and different colour hook up wire for protyping circuits, rechargeable batteries, i.e stuff you will use again and again.

yeah i basically meant basic parts I'm looking at maximumrobotics.com you can buy all kinds of stuff in bulk as far as electronics go.... I'm basically building the same size projects so I might stock up on motors...
-
first I'm just going to get a base and a turntable built.... Then work on adding a arm to the turntable..... my main problem will be programming but I was hoping to get enough motors etc. to last me a couple more projects maybe having to bu a little bit here and there...

Last year I got some surplus motors with encoders built in maximumrobotics.com for a bargain price. Great source. Nice people too.
Arduinos are great for easy programming and sparkfun has loads cool things if you really want to spend your money (bluesmirf modems are especially cool if you want to easily convert a robot to bluetooth)
Best of luck at finding what you want and making cool things. :D
