So i broke the reset pin of my atmega 8, few minutes before I was about to program it, :-[
Can I solder the pin so that it fits in my breadboard????
Thanks,
Ankit

You could, but it would be "iffy" They are only a couple dollars to buy

I agree with pomprocker. I guess its worth a shot if your extremely careful though. It also depends on how much of the pin is broken off. Did it break off completely at the device itself?
-
thanks for ur replies, its broken off partially
-
If its only partial then you should be able to solder a fix onto it. You do want to be careful though. Make sure the partial pin and the soldered patch are both heated properly but not overheating the MCU. Im sure youll be fine

No harm in trying,
try to heat it as short as possible.
Always be very carefull with inserting and extracting ICs.
For expensive ICs use a socket that you permanently leave on the IC.
