Title: Thinking of buying Roomba (robotic vaccum)

I am looking to buy a robotic vacuum but i was wondering if any one has any decent ideas on how to make one.

build the $50 robot with object avoidence and strap a one of those hand held rechargeble vacumes to it

Wouldn't the weight callapse it and if it doesnt i wouldn't be able to drive it because motors are to weak

You can always build it stronger and use high torque servos.

i think your thinking of a regular vacum i am think of something like this

Still too heavy for the $50 Robot , you would need to upgrade the servos , but still thats really easy to do.

would i have to do anything other than change the servos? is there any other changes that would be needed?

The battery on the Roomba self discharges within a week, so you constantly need to keep it charged. It also requires being emptied/cleaned often.

That being said, I used it all the time back in the US. I turn it on before I leave for work, and come back home to a cleaned floor. :)
