Title: What's this part?
Post by: geek1 on December 31, 2008, 05:18:36 PM
I took apart an old fan and found a round thing with a shaft coming out of both ends, yet I couldn't turn the shaft when I tried. Can someone please tell me what htis is? ??? ??? ??? ???

The reason I couldn't figure it out is that there are no terminals or leads of any sort anywhere on it.

I just looked at the fan again and noticed that this was in some sort of housing wired to the switch and power supply. Im going to see if I can take apart the housing a bit more and figure it out from there.

Yes, I took apart the housing and found a coil of very thin wire connected to some sort of IC.
