I took apart an old fan and found a round thing with a shaft coming out of both ends, yet I couldn't turn the shaft when I tried. Can someone please tell me what htis is? ??? ??? ??? ???
-
possibly a rusted motor?
-
The reason I couldn't figure it out is that there are no terminals or leads of any sort anywhere on it.
-
dont know ??? ??? ??? ??? :)

I just looked at the fan again and noticed that this was in some sort of housing wired to the switch and power supply. Im going to see if I can take apart the housing a bit more and figure it out from there.
-
is there any type f coil wire around it if so its a motor
-
Yes, I took apart the housing and found a coil of very thin wire connected to some sort of IC.
-
yeah then more than likely its a motor
-
like computer fan? those are brushless motors
-
No, it was just a little desktop fan.
-
Dont suppose you could post a picture of what youre talking about?
