Title: Two thruster underwater ROV propusion

Hi,

I am part of a team in college building a Rov for the MATE ROV competition.  My team is discussing using two thrusters (Brushed DC motors without feedback).  A thruster would be on each side.  To turn one would be off or reversed and the other would be forward.  We are talking about using dimmer switch control.  Here is my question

Are two brushed DC motors of the same make and model the same?  I am worried that without any type of feedback may not be possible to go in a straight line easily.

not quite sure what you are asking . . .

For an ROV you don't want feedback on the motors, you want feedback on the vehicle itself. For example gyros, accelerometer, etc.

Feedback on the motor would keep the motor spinning at a defined speed. Feedback on the vehicle would keep the vehicle going straight.
