now i will be buying an axon but i will be using an ir senser and i want to know if i will need to program it to follow stuff around
-
Hmmm - YES.
The IR sensor doesn't know what its being used for: following something, avoiding something, or being mounted on a refrigerator door to turn off the light once the door is shut. There are software libraries available to make it easier for you to talk to the sensor - but what your robot then does with the answer is up to it. Thats the beauty of it!

And I just started with an Axon a few weeks ago. I have been using Basic Stamps for a while, I was able to use the Axon right away and have IR hooked up and working for distance sensing. It'll be up to you to design how are you using it. POint it forward and watch for collisions. point it to the side and you can wall follow, etc.

right here:
I downloaded all three and used the latest ones to oeverwrite the older ones.
There is one small change you need to make in the make file....
