Title: Fuse Blown??
Post by: sdavis6736 on January 11, 2009, 07:46:07 PM
I have been using an 18V power supply while my robot was on the testing bench and all was well.  When I attached the robot to its battery supply for fields testing the fuse blew to the motor controller as soon as it started up.  I understand the surge current issue, but shouldn't it have blown when using the power supply also?  Why does this happen?  Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

It's maybe your power supply can not deliver high current... cause batteries usually can...
Get a bigger fuse and test.... :)

Most benchtop power supplies max out at 1 or 2 amps. Your battery was probably giving out a lot more.

A fuse blows based on current.
