what would you consider acceptable error? if it is off by .4 inches, is that ok? or maybe .04 inches? there will always be some error
i have a sharp ir rangefinder (GP2Y0A21YK), and i would like to know the margin of error in a average room of an average house on a wall
i would idealy like a sensor that has a 1/4 inch of an error.
is the GP2Y0A21YK acurate to 1/4 inch, or what is it accurat to?
is the sonar more accurate? or is another type of ir range finder more accurate? what would their margin of error be?
thx in advance
i would like to know using the sharp ir range finder (GP2Y0A21YK) how close to three inches i would be thx

It has non-linear accuracy, meaning that the accuracy improves the closer the object gets to the Sharp IR. 1/4th inch sounds reasonable.
Sonar is less accurate, and much slower. Check the sonar datasheet for error margin.
