Title: Humanoid robot, what parts and its the first from scratch
Post by: Xerox23 on January 14, 2009, 12:21:34 PM
Hi, i wanna construct my first robot on my own, i use the "hard" material which is aluminum/metal and the vulnerable to make it move smoothly
See this: http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=6554.0

Now, his 1m tall, 3 ft. He is great as the model, but now i need the parts for him, he should be mobile so no wires and stuff, so i can controll him from the PC and he also should be able to go around the house by himself.

It need to have many inputs as im going to have alot of sensors and other plug-ins.
He need a very good computer/chip to register the things that happen, a good engine and also a very good servo is needed, how many servos would be required u think?

I would need around 10 inputs including the USB unit ofc.

Im thinking to go to this shop as im from sweden, http://electrokit.se/
You can translate the text by using google if you want to see if it is nice, But the most of it is the same and the most are in english.

I need good cards for the programming to, so all must be good but also cheap.

do you know how hard this is to do? This is like competing with Honda's ASIMO

Just making a robot that can walk (with a decent gait) is hard.

Making a robot arm is bloody difficult.

Robot vision can melt human brains.

Trying to do half of what you want could take a hobbyist half of their life to get working properly.

Please make sure to write a members tutorial . Look forward to reading it.  ;D

But seriously - as everyone else has said. You are trying to create an autonomous robot that can control a spaceship to get to the moon - have you first tried to make one that can "just" walk.

I wish you luck...

you can't, and you shouldn't.

People who use the search function later with the same question will be able to find this post. That'll help them.

Hi,

Im thinking to go to this shop as im from sweden, http://electrokit.se/
[...] so all must be good but also cheap.

A quick glance didn't convince me of the "cheap" bit.

If you get stuff from the web, it doesn't matter where the physical shop is.
You might wanna check out some British shops and in Denmark we have eg. http://www.el-supply.dk/ which have quite a selection, some cheap, some too expensive - allways shop around a bit for what you need.
