I've been playing with RR's motion tracking but of course you can't have the camera follow a target because when the camera moves everything becomes a motion.
So the QuickCam Orbit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104087 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104087)) has facial tracking. Any ideas/guesses how it works exactly?

Center of mass?

Center of mass has to have some definition. For example; center of mass for objects colored red. This camera tracks faces which have no color specific definitions. I'm wondering if there is some type of distance filter algorithm for objects perceived as close vs. far away.
Basically I want something I can't have; center the camera on any moving object then continue to track the object as it moves, moving the camera as needed.
I'm playing with the idea of two PIR sensors with the beams narrowed to find the edges of a "warm" object. But this looks like a no go because I believe PIR sensors have a reset time that wouldn't allow for smooth continual tracking.
What we need here is a cheap thermal webcam to use with RoboRealm...perfect red(ish) color mask :)

I believe Devantech sells a heat sensor array, if you have it pan you could make a low resolution thermal picture

I looked at that part, but it looks like it's range is only 2 meters. I needed something with a 2 to 3 times longer range. I'm still playing with the idea of some sort of scanning thermopile sensor; or maybe an array of thermopile sensors because of the reset time.
