So, how likely is it that accidently plugging photoresistors into my servo pins and turning the bot on would result in damage or destruction to the photoresistors :o

I don't think it should do the photoresistor any harm. In essence it is just resistor whose resistance changes with light. The voltage you have going to the servos passing through it shouldn't damage it. You could build a simple photoresistor circuit to test it is still working , like this one http://www.societyofrobots.com/schematics_photoresistor.shtml

Ahah! I found a short in the sensor inputs. It blinded my poor robot.
