ive seen a few topics of people saying they're going to sell the board and possibly also the $40 board, has anyone done this yet? i was thinking if no one else has done this i might have a go (with the respective creators permission of coarse). what do you guys think?
side note: does anyone have the eagle board file for the $50 robot with only one power supply?
side note 2: would this atmega8 be the one for the $50 robot? http://www.futurlec.com.au/Atmel/ATMEGA8.jsp
its the only one i could find in an australian online store.

Yep.
As far as I can see, thats the one.

@SmasH
If I wanted to invest in you and your product:-
1/ You dont quite know which ATMega8 might be suitable as per side note 2: would this atmega8 be the one for the $50 robot? http://www.futurlec.com.au/Atmel/ATMEGA8.jsp (http://www.futurlec.com.au/Atmel/ATMEGA8.jsp)

2/ You are requesting other peoples Eagle designs. So you dont have one - but you want to sell anything that other SoR members give you for free. Are you comfy with that?:
Sorry, but I'm not quite sure what 'value added' you bring: other than publishing other peoples designs

Well I've made the Roboduino board = thats 100% compatible. I've even made a modified $50 Robot Tutorial for the Roboduino
-
Also, if you do the math, the roboduino will actually be cheaper than a $50/$40 robot board. Curious Inventor can buy in bulk, resulting in cheaper prices.
-
yes you have a point about the bulk part. i priced all the parts for the $50 board at about $27au which is about $20usd? and webbot i take it you dont want this to go ahead?
-
Factor in the PCB cost, shipping, and the fact that there is no USB programming... not really worth it.
-
hmmm, point taken :-\ well ill just make one for me then
-
... and webbot i take it you dont want this to go ahead?..
Thats not quite what I said. The bare bones $50 board is: one IC, one regulator, one capacitor and whole load of header pins. There's only so many ways you can put it together!
Not being rude about the $50 design - just a testament that it is sooooo simple - ie it fulfills its design requirement as a noob board.
It's hard to know what to add. Airman did a great job with the Roboduino to produce a board filled out with extra interfacing/loader features etc
So I wish you well - but I think you have an uphill ride to come up with 'yet another' beginner board. You will probably spend $1000s in the prototype iteration phase with your manufacturer (standards like rohs for example?). So what added value will your board bring on top of say: a homemade $50 board, a Roboduino? If it costs near $100 then I'd be better buying an Axon. My confidence was dented when you were asking other people for Eagle designs for 'your' board !!
Bon voyage

ok, i see your point webbot. i can see how this isnt really a good idea now. thanks :-\
