Title: looking for an ir rangefinder with fast response time

I am currently using a sharp GP2Y0A02YK long range ir sensor on a stepper motor turret I built.  My problem is I'd like to scan the ir back and forth faster, but the reponse time on the sensors is ~40ms.  I'm just curious if anybody knows of any similar sensors that run quicker.

What about an array of sharp IR on a turret so more area is covered more quickly?

That could work I just don't know if I have enough space.  I attached a pic of the bot.  If I were to use multiple IR I would need a concave mount to minimize the ir dead zone in front of the bot.  I am curious if a few ir, that close pointed slightly toward one another, would cause interference.
