I need to build a chassis for my robot on two levels similar to the attached image.
Does anyone know where I may be able to get the metal strips as shown in the picture? (The ones that look like large meccano strips.)
Also, what are they called?
Many thanks.

I used that stuff to put up my garage doors. Any good hardware store should have it.

Its made out of galvanized steel. You'll need a bandsaw to cut the strips. I used it once to build a robot and bought it from Lowes.
Be aware that using it will make your robot pretty heavy . . .

Actually you can use a hacksaw, even a sawzall or jigsaw with the right blade. Depending on how thin it is some of it can be cut with sheet metal shears. I personally use and prefer a cutoff wheel, because you can also use the cutoff wheel to clean up the sharp edges left from cutting it.

Doing it by hand will take forever . . .

I use a belt sander and/or powered grinder wheel mounted to a desk for that ;D

yeah I try to avoid doing it by hand but just threw it all out there since many of the people on this forum might not have access to power tools and in some cases might not be allowed to play with them hehehe.

I just use the cut off wheel for both since I hate switching between cutoff wheel and grinding wheel and for the light stuff the cutoff is just as effective heeh.
