Hi all
This is an awesome site. !!!
Years back -- 1980s-- when I was younger -- I had the opportunity to work with precision robotics in Switzerland and thereafter I went on to other stuff.
My interest in robotics has surfaced -- and I am going to build a simple one first. The project is going to be a home pool skimmer . Working on the mechanical aspects and how to make it cover the pool area unattended.
I intend to use a Debian linux powered controller -- called the SLUG -- see http://www.nslu2-linux.org/ (http://www.nslu2-linux.org/) , is light weight and draws just 5 watts off 5V. Hope to use the USB interface for peripheral controls--movement, sensors etc. This unit will permit sophisticated programming --maybe in perl or python.
Feedback and ideas welcome !!!
Will keep you updated.
Cheers
