Post by: RoboGenius on May 05, 2009, 12:59:57 PM
Hallo ,I've got a little problem I build an micro controller and I want to make a wireless UART .
I decided to use my old bluetooth dongle can I connect it to my MCU ?
                                                           Thanks,RoboGenius

P.S. The microcontroller is ATMEGA8.

you can use that old dongle but you will have to buy another dongle like bluesmirf for the mcu side of things.
two dongles will not do i don't think...

Thank James ,
I have 2 dongles but I saw in a video of axon that the builder connected an  dongle to the axon and another in the PC.
How can I connect my second dongle to the 50 $ robot.

now that is a more complex set up... he has the infra-red transmitting to the other axon the it transmits to the pc via a bluetooth... the way he has it wired i would say the one on the axon end wouldn't be a standard dongle on its own... i would think that it is a bluetooth module designed to connect directly to the uart...
so in your case i would say your best shot would be to look into uart-usb chips and see if interfacing the bluetooth dongle---usb-uart chip--uart port on mcu...
look into some of these things.
