i am going to buy a toggle switch for a robot i'm building and i want to know how to solder it to my battery

i wouldn't suggest soldering to a battery rather getting a pack or holder...
the easiest way would be to set it up so it will either connect or disconnect the battery.
if the switch has 3 terminals find two next to each other and connect + from battery to one terminal
and connect the second terminal to where + from battery would normally go.

The switch breaks the red wire. So cut the red wire and solder one end to each terminal of the switch. Do not solder the black wire to the switch. I attached a photo.
