Title: c++
Post by: ccdjr106 on June 05, 2009, 06:17:08 AM
for my summer homework i have to build a small robot that is capable of finding a object covered in tin foil
so i was wondering what languages i could program in and which one is easiest i know a little of c++  but i only took it for 1 week at ncc
and i was thinking about buying ether the axon or arduino and i was wondering which one would be better for what i have to do
i tried to build the 50 dollar robot but i messed up the pc board part so that is why i want to buy the axon or arduino

check out the roboduino, it is like the arduino but is much more friendly to robotics.
as for identifying the victims you could use a reflective sensor as not too many things will
have the same reflective properties a foil (just keep it away from mirrors :D).
i don't know too much about code but im sure someone on this forum could help you out.

airman00 has a tutorial for a line following robot that finds tin foil "victims" that may be able to help you.

would your teachers mind if you followed a tutorial?

i dont think so    but she is making the rest of the class do reading so i think its mostly for the coding.

Well of course the Roboduino and Axon are just smaller or bigger brothers - respectively.

Depends on how many I/O lines, program memory, RAM you need. The Axon has the most of all.

If you want to program in C++ or C then either is fine. You will find links throughout this site and tutorials for libraries for both.

Any code examples can easily be converted to any AVR board from the $50 robot board onwards.

Depends on your hardware budget
