Title: homework board

i have the parallax homework board and i have a lap top that i need to connect  it to that has no serial port i have the giga ware usb to serial cable and i can get the homework board to show up on the parallax software but when you go to identify the loopback says no and when i try to transfer code i get an error the laptop has windows  7

I've had bad results with using parallax items with usb/serial converters, apparently they need a certain command that not all usb/serial converters can handle.
