Title: crystal oscillator frequency

If my UART device communicates at 9600 bps does that mean I need a 9.6MHz crystal? I'm not sure how to bps and MHz relate.

no, it should all be in the datasheet.

Thanks, it all became clear once I got the datasheet, but 14Mb on dial up takes damn long :(
