Title: Buzzer
Post by: spizzak on July 26, 2009, 08:01:16 PM
Hey, I got this buzzer to use with one of my robots but I'm not sure it will work. When I connect it to 5V the sound it makes is barely audible. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a special way to connect it? Is it even mean for DC?

it says it only handles 1 mA.  I'm wondering if you fed it too much current and fried it?

and yes, that would work w/ dc

In the spec it said:

Quote
Type    Piezo Transducer, External Drive
Frequency   3.8kHz
Voltage Range   1 ~ 20Vp-p
Voltage - Rated   5Vp-p

By External Drive it mean it need to drive with 3.8 KHz AC and not DC, may be you can connect it to PWM pin

Any ideas on how I would do that (software-wise anyway)?

How do I make sure its not getting too much current?

It will only draw as much current as it needs as long as its at 5 volts  ;D
