Title: ladder climbing bot
Post by: macbook on August 13, 2009, 11:51:52 AM
Hey,
I want to make a bot that can climb ladders. Ladders as in rods of radius abt 2 cm and at a distance of 20 cm. I dont want to make a humanoid for this cause, just want it to be as simple as possible.
Any ideas?

You could make something that sort of drives up the ladder by means of wheels on the sides (see picture for better explanation), The two wheels with the arrows being powered.

or do you want something to actually "climb" up the ladder?

i agree with finnik, actually climbing the ladder would be quite a task.
driving up the ladder would be much easier.
does the robot have to get off the ladder when it gets to top/bottom?

you could use some thing like this if you can balance the weight correctly. but that may not work :D
