Title: suggestion for a sensor(s)
Post by: Sneak_Archer on September 27, 2009, 07:06:17 PM
Hi,

I am working on a target seeking robot that avoids obstacles on its way. I need a transmitter, that will work as the target (on a beacon), and the receiver will be mounted on the robot. My robot on getting the "intensity" from the transmitter will translate into the distance and also will measure the angle to the target. (The robot should know the distance and angle to the target at all times). Can anyone suggest a high accuracy sensor pair or an assembled module with beacon that I could use?

Any suggestion will be welcomed.

Thanks.

I'd something like a PING for roughly getting the x-axis position, and maybe a vertically mounted Sharp IR to scan the y-axis up and down and give a position in relation to where the detection with the sharp IR was.

If not, something like a CMU cam, AVR cam, or a Blackfin cam would be able to work here, but with more work and money envolved.

Just some ideas that hopefully help out. :)
