ok i've got no money for a programmer but i've got allot of parts. i've got a max232 for serial communication and a 24lc16b eeprom which is also made my microchip which i'm thinking i could somehow mcguyver into some sort of external memory for it but i wouldn't know how to do that. does anyone have an idea how i could make a programmer with relatively common components? i can't seem to find any programmer schematics that use a serial interface. also is there any info on an arduino based dspic programmer

Hi,
Don't know if the following links are any use to you?

unfortunately dspics seem to require a special programmer and i don't have the microchip programmer. there's a few parallel port versions though.

If you know anyone with a programmer, you could borrow it, or ask them, to program the PIC with a bootloader, that can be used to load the program via the serial port.
-
oh that could work. do you know any bootloaders for dspic?
