Maybe if you want internet access for your robot?
But still then a wireless dongle would be better...
The two uses i can see for this is internet access or parts... Desoldered of coarse.

i'll open it to see what parts might be usefull.

Not really much apart from connectors, unless you dig smd?

there are a couple of pcb mount switches that may be hand for a robot board. appart from that i am unsure as i have not had a close look yet,

If its still working don't destroy it.
If you sell it you could probably buy more with what you get...
Is it working?

I wouldn't think that anyone would buy a dial-up modem. ADSL is becoming too popular to really be able to sell it. I would also doubt there are any useful parts in it. I would just keep it around in case some use comes up for it. A lot of ADSL providers also provide free dial-up accounts which might come in useful one day.

it contains a 3300uf capacitor, with leads that are about 20mm long, and an memory ic chip. that is about it.

Yeah, id keep it, if its not really worth many parts... Keep it just in case anything happens...

toss it into the pile it might be useful someday. maybe the casing.

the little pile in the corner is always handy for things.( not that little any more)
