Hello all!
I am building the $50 Robot, but instead of the HS-311 I got the HS-322HD because they were stronger for only a buck more. However, when I needed to pull out the pot slot from the main gear, I found that it was all one gear, so I could not pull it out. How would I get rid of the slot (This is a nylon gear.) I was thinking of drilling the center out. Would this work?

Yeah drilling out the centre will work. That is what i had to do for my futabas3003s and it works fine.
I had to get a piece of paper towel to hold the gear still and use a drill to drill it out. I didn'tuse a vice as i did not want to brake the gear.
So yeah drilling will work as i have had first hand experience. If you need any more help just give use a yell.

May I suggest that you use one of the shaft adaptors that came with the servo to stop the output shaft's rotation during drilling?
If you want to use a paper towel make sure you do not get it near the drill bit!!!
I have always been drilling the centre out having the servo partially assembled, but then u have to be careful cause its easy to get burr on your gears
hope this helps
