Title: $50 Robot MCU question

For the $50 robot, I've noticed that it says to use ATmega8 AVR. When I visited the Atmel website and went to the page that explained it, they told me "Not recommended for new designs:  Replaced by ATmega8A." Would it be okay to use the ATmega8A instead of the ATmega8? DigiKey gave me three different kinds of the ATmega8A: AU, MU, and PU. Which one should I use? And (although it may be a stupid question, but I just need to make sure :P) will it still work with the AVRISP mkII In-System Programmer and the AVR STK Serial Port
Dongle Programmer?

Atmega8A is a an optimised version of Atmega8.
I'm not too sure but I think you should buy the ATMEGA8A-PU-ND. ATMEGA8A-PU-ND comes in a DIP package, like the one used in the tutorial.
